Every time a stimulus check is sent out, there’s a five-second pause before someone asks, “So… will there be another stimulus?” (Reminder: the third stimulus check was distributed in March 2021). If you’ve wondered if a fourth stimulus will occur, here’s your answer: Yes…sort of. True, a fourth stimulus check is being issued—but only to residents of certain states in the United States.
You might be thinking right now, “Wait a minute.” What? Really?
Yes, it is true. Let’s go layer by layer and coast to coast on this subject.
What is Stimulus 4 ?
According to Americans magazine President Biden introduced the Build Back Better economic programme in the summer of 2021, which included the American Jobs Plan and the American Families Plan. A fourth stimulus payment was rumoured to be included in any plans – see other tax rumors. The Build Back Better plan failed and was not reintroduced; however, different spending plans are being discussed in Congress. Other tax breaks and changes, such as the potential extension or revival of the 2021 advance Child Tax Credit, may be included in these bills.
4th Stimulus check Happening?
They are, but not from the federal government, as the previous three stimulus payments did. It all depends on where you live this time. That’s right, the fourth stimulus check is now being distributed to some people at the state and local levels.
When the American Rescue Plan was implemented, each 50 states received $195 billion ($500 million minimum for each state) to help fund their economic recovery. That is a lot of money. But here’s the catch: they don’t have indefinite time to spend that money. The states must decide how to spend the money by the end of 2024, and then they have until the end of 2026. Those deadlines may appear far away, but the clock is ticking.Â
States which are Giving out irs tax fourth stimulus checks
All 50 states have access to this money—they just have to figure out how to spend it first. So far, these states have devised a strategy to use the funds as a fourth stimulus check.Â
Targeted Groups
Some states are dipping into the wad of cash provided by the federal government and distributing fourth stimulus checks to specific groups of people. Each state’s requirements appear to be different, but they all appear to have a few things in common, such as falling into certain income levels or experiencing some kind of hardship.Â

- California
The Golden State is the only state on the list that has issued large, broad-sweeping stimulus checks similar to those issued by the federal government. Here’s how their figures stack up: As part of the Golden State Stimulus I, Californians earning $75,000 or less received a one-time check for $600 or $1,200. They may also be eligible for a second stimulus payment ranging from $500 to $1,100 under the Golden State Stimulus II. This is in addition to the additional funds provided by the state through the Young Child Tax Credit to families with children aged 6 and under.

In April 2022, Maine announced that it will send $850 relief checks to approximately 858,000 of its citizens in order to offset the effects of inflation. The checks, which will be funded by the state’s budget surplus, will be mailed out beginning in June 2022.

How Americans Spend Their Stimulus Checks ?
Since the pandemic, the government has issued three, count them three, large-scale stimulus packages. And now that a significant amount of time has passed since the first one, we’re beginning to see how people spent that money. According to our State of Personal Finance study, of those who received a stimulus check,
- 41% of individuals used it to pay for essentials such as food and bills.
- 11% of it was spent on non-essential items.
- 5% invested the money.
- 38% Saved the money.
Furthermore, here’s some good news: According to Census Bureau data, the last two stimulus checks reduced food shortages by 40% and financial instability by 45%. That is significant. But the question is, if people are in a better position now, will they be more likely to manage their money to keep it that way?
Will the Federal Government Issue Checks ?
At this point, most people believe that another large stimulus package from the federal government is a long shot. Nonetheless, some lawmakers continue to advocate for another stimulus package to assist Americans who are struggling to rebuild as a result of COVID-19 and its economic impact. And, now that the Delta and Omicron variants are available, will another stimulus check occur for everyone? You just never know. Really, only time will tell. Many people did not expect a third stimulus check, but it did occur.Â
With the economy and job creation on the rise, the need for a stimulus package is much lower than it has been since the pandemic began. Not to mention that many people have received extra money each month from the Child Tax Credit. When you add it all up, it’s easy to see why there might not be another stimulus check.
Don’t wait for the Stimulus checks
When you’re in a bind, having some extra cash can feel like a breath of fresh air, but don’t rely on it as your primary source of income. We’ve said it before and will say it again (as many times as necessary): don’t wait for the government to take care of you. It’s almost never a good bet.
